Life continues to plod along whether we want it to or not. It never stops and for the most part, it is at a pace that allows us to enjoy the ride. I do not have any real golf musings today, but wanted to share a couple of thoughts.

Power or Finesse in Golf

Finesse
I was watching two volleyball games at the local college. The Canadore Panthers, men and women, played against Le Cité college for a regularly scheduled match. The women hit the floor first and then the men. As I watched these young athletes play, I could not help but notice the similarities between of the volleyball matches and golf.
As you can imagine, the women’s match was mostly finesse with some power and the men’s match was mostly power with a bit of finesse. Without dissecting all the possible finer points, I would suggest that the LPGA and the PGA Tours follow the same style of play. Continue reading
Crushing The Ball Off The Tee
I am amazed at how far players are hitting their ball off the tee. I am not only talking about professionals, but amateurs as well. It seems that distance is the holy grail of golf and is what most players are focused on. I agree that distance can be a great equalizer, however it is not the end all for shooting low scores. The CareerBuilder Challenge is over and unfortunately Adam Hadwin came up 1 stroke short for his first win on the PGA Tour. As a Canadian, I was rooting for my country man to pull out all the stops and capitalize on his 59 during the third round. Canadian Adam Hadwin Shoots a 59 at the CareerBuilder
Congrats to Adam Hadwin for being the 8th person in PGA Tour history to shoot a 59. He was the 4th player to do it on a par 72 course! I also read he was the first non winner on tour to shoot this amazing score. Maybe he can fix that today. Continue reading
