The Grateful Golfer Mid Season Review

It is about that time to review my current progress during the 2016 golf season. Each year, I like to examine how my season is progressing and figure out if I need a mid-season adjustment in order to meet my pre-season goals. I am sure many of you do the same thing and my process is not unique, but it is something I do every year!

This year, my mid-season review is a about 1 month late. Normally, I try to examine everything by mid-July, but due to several big life changes (retiring, moving, starting work again) I did not play as much golf in early July as normal. That is okay, however, because I needed to ensure my priorities were on my life changes and nothing else. So here is what I think so far!

A Golf Plan To Be A Scratch Golfer in 2016

Good shot or poor shot, Every shot is an opportunityto learn to be a better golfer.One of my life time goals as a golfer is to reach the élite level of being a scratch player. Averaging par 10 games out of 20 is a very difficult feat. There are many challenges each player must face when setting goals and I have found that without a plan of some sort my expectations far exceed what I achieve.

This year, I purposely waited until the beginning of the golf season before implementing my plan to be a scratch golfer. I will follow the same processes as previously stated, but I thought I would update my planning processes and ask for feedback on my way forward.

Golf Canada Handicap Changes for 2016-2017

Golf Canada put out is annual changes to how it plans to govern in 2016 – 2017. If you have not read the details, let me save you some time.

Blah, Blah, Blah, we change our mind on solo rounds – Blah, Blah, Blah!

Okay, that was a little harsh, but like many other amateurs, Golf Canada’s decision in November of 2015 not to follow the USGA’s crazy idea of disallowing solo rounds for a handicap was applauded by the Canadian golfing masses! So what changed?
