Building On A Strong Golf Game

Many times a year each golfer has a memorable game. Everything seemed easy and no matter what shot we decided it worked out like a charm. These types of games reinforce that we have the ability to play better golf. The challenge most amateurs have is how to build on such games. Many players seeking to achieve the next level keep stats in order to use concrete data to point out our strong and weak points of that round. Personally, after many years of following many paths to be a single handicapper, I know the areas that I need to improve upon in order to achieve lower scores more consistently. Mine knowledge is base on experience. What is your knowledge based upon?

Common Sense Approach To More GIR

Greens in regulation (GIR) is the one stat that every golfer should understand. Hitting the green with a chance to putt for birdie more often than not will lead to lower golf scores. Working Towards A Better Golf Game

After my round of golf yesterday with my friends Ron and Mike, I noticed a few positive aspects of my game that I need to focus upon moving forward. It is nothing profound, however it is important enough to move forward these skills in order to improve my overall golf game. Primarily, I will focus on improving my GIR (greens in regulation) as a starting point for my season. This might seem very obvious to any experience golfer and I accept that statement. I am slowly knocking the rust off my game and I understand the process of improvement each year, but I feel that to improve my game the most, I need to focus on what I do best and improve on the other areas throughout the season. Well, yesterday’s round sure showed where I need the most improvement!

What Is Your Favourite Approach Distance To The Green

Hitting the ball on the green in regulation is the goal of every golfer. To accomplish this task, we think we need to be as close to the green as possible in order to make an easier approach shot. After years of trying different distances, I am not sure this is the case. For my game, I have a dead zone where I absolutely try to avoid as much as possible. It is that distance where my success rate of hitting the green diminishes because I have to manufacture a shot. I often wonder why players do not hit to a distance that works so they can create a natural, somewhat full swing. Well, the short answer is our lack of knowledge and understanding of what approach shots works best for our game. This challenge is a quick fix and one that every player can achieve the next time they step on to the links.
