With The Masters in the books, spring just around the corner, and schedules being developed, it is time to work on my golf game. With a 6 month break from playing golf, I find that I sometimes have to relearn my golf swing. It does not take very long, but some goofy swing faults do rear their ugly heads and as such, I need a way to banish them to the abyss. Pitching The Golf Ball From Distance
Pitching the ball is a challenge from distance. Many of us hit more shots than we want from 40 to 60 yards. Understanding different shot options from that distance will go a long way to lowering our golf scores. The focus of today is the pitch shot from distance. Specifically, the USGA instructor Sam Vosler, lead golf coach for the Sanford Power Golf Academy, suggests two things to remember when hitting a 40 yard chip shot that is worth discussing.

Each has a different technique and use different clubs (routinely) to splash out of the sand, but both have some fundamental or core actions that lead to their success. Listening to them chat about sand play greatly enhanced my knowledge; talk about being lucky or what!

This particular swing fault is almost counterintuitive because most of us feel that keeping the same motion while chipping and striking the ball makes sense. Well, this is not the case and creating a more stable lower body on short chips promotes a consistent, repeatable golf swing that helps lower our golf scores.
