Match Play – Gross Event Results

Putting Green at Osprey Links Golf Course.

After some work, I was able to squeeze in my second Match Play of the week. Fortunately, this was the gross event and I did not have to give 11 strokes to my playing partner. Arriving early at the course, I practiced my chipping and putting. I have not played in a while, so I thought it was time to practice. I had time to chip with my 52º wedge and putt a few balls. When my opponent, Don Secord, arrived, he did the same. After about 5 minutes, we both decided that it was time to head to the first tee. Continue reading

Some Golfers Are So Lucky!

If you play golf long enough, you will encounter a situation where even you cannot believe how lucky you were on your shot. Yesterday, I made a shot that fit that category. It was not pretty in any stretch of the imagination, however the results of the poor shot and score made me walk away off the green with a smile. Continue reading

My First Round of Golf Went as Expected

Yesterday, I played my first round of golf in 2017. My first round went much as I expected, but I did learn a few things that may or may not be incorporated in my training going forward.

2016 – My Golf Year

The Grateful Golfer – 2016 Year in Review is not as positive as I had hoped. I looked back at my early articles and found that I did not set any hard goals to achieve. Osprey Links 3 Man Scramble – Results

As you will remember, Geary, Blair and I entered a 3 man scramble last Sunday at Osprey Links Golf Course. Jeff Rogerson, the club pro and general manager, organized a great event with the support of his awesome team. To top off the great golf, Jeff’s team provided a fantastic roast beef meal with all the fixings. It was a perfect way to end our time on the links.

Geary, Blair and I had never played together as a group, yet our individual strengths made us a good team on paper. So we embarked on a journey into the unknown, fun and excitement. The rules were fairly straight forward and not uncommon for a scramble tournament. We all arrived early, entered the skins competition, and prepared for a fun round on the links. There was 38 teams in this event with two teams starting off each hole and one par 5 had four teams. The day remained overcast with little wind and no rain.
