Are You Playing Golf Today?

Are you playing golf today? It is a very simple question that does not require much thought. However, let me ask this question again? Are you playing golf today?

The physical act of going to the golf course quickly answers this question with a resounding yes! You make your way to the links, pull out your clubs, hit the ball between 60 and 120 times, pack up your clubs and then go home. So, yes you played golf today. However, is that the real meaning of this question? Continue reading

Playing Golf With One Club

This morning I was fortunate to wake up early and see that the forecast for rain did not materialize. After hopping out of bed, in the dark, I decided to hit the links for a quick round. I did not play all week, so I took this opportunity to get out and play some golf.

Arriving at the course, I quickly unpacked my clubs and anticipated being the only player on the course for quite a while. As I set up my push cart, my friend Geary pulled up and we quickly agreed to play together. As we walked towards the first tee, I noticed that Geary only had one club in his hand; his 9-iron! And then our conversation started! Continue reading

The Grateful Golfer Mid Season Review

It is about that time to review my current progress during the 2016 golf season. Each year, I like to examine how my season is progressing and figure out if I need a mid-season adjustment in order to meet my pre-season goals. I am sure many of you do the same thing and my process is not unique, but it is something I do every year!

This year, my mid-season review is a about 1 month late. Normally, I try to examine everything by mid-July, but due to several big life changes (retiring, moving, starting work again) I did not play as much golf in early July as normal. How Often Do You Play Golf?

How often do you play golf? The answer most of you are saying in your mind is “not often enough”. I am not sure that is correct answer, but who am I to judge anyone about anyone’s game! Personally, I find that 4-5 days a week is plenty; I even alternate and on opposite weeks to play 3-4 times in a 7 day period. And that includes practice!

At the Toronto Golf Show, I committed to play 80 rounds this year. I am currently at 30 and I have not touch a club in 2 weeks (I missed Men’s Night on Wednesday because the group I was going to play in was full). I think I will make it!

I believe that it is possible to play golf too often. Not being a professional, I find that life must take priority sometimes and over the years (like this one) life activities forces a 2 or 3 week break once or twice during the golf season. I am definitely okay with the break because I am confident I will be able to play enough golf during the entire season. How about you? Continue reading

The Fundamental Rule to Low Golf Scores

What is golf’s fundamental to lower golf scores? This is a question I have given considerable thought to solve. The answer is something that will empower any player and greatly enhance our golfing experience!

Consistency of Effort Is the Key to Low Golf Scores!

The real challenge is to boil this very complex issue down to one simple solution. This methodology appears to the core foundation in today’s society, so the golfing world is trying to adopt it to gather new players. Is it really possible for golf? Continue reading
