Reading the greens is a tough skill to develop for most amateurs. There are many factors to consider which change for each putt. I wish I could give you a 100% guaranteed process for sinking more putts, but I cannot. It is a skill that is developed over time as you develop more experience reading greens. There is, however, a quick overview of the five aspects of putting that every player should know. I realized there are a great deal more as you skill improves. Finding Your Aim Point When Putting

There takes a bit of imagination to be a great putter in golf. Understanding who our ball will react to the conditions of the green is something gleaned through experience. I have played golf for 50 years and I still find it challenging sometimes on the short grass. I often wonder why after all this time I still find it challenging to hit my ball into the hole from a relatively short distance. Often my misses are a result of choosing the wrong aim point. I make solid contact and my ball rolls over where I chose, but it still misses the hole. Why is that and can it please stop!

Putting Fundamentals: Not Just For Beginners

Every golfer uses the putter more than any other club in their bag. If you are not sure this is the truth, I am confident that if you analyze your last round of golf, my statement will prove correct. Knowing this, I often wonder why players do not spend more time working on their fundamentals of putting. Over the years, I have spent many hours perfecting my putting stroke. It is unique and works for my game. If you have not taken the time to cement your putting stroke, I suggest you do because it is a stroke saver. Having said that, there are some fundamentals that most player should know and adopt to improve their flat stick play.
