As I write this article, I am waiting for the playoff holes to start at the 2025 Players Championship. Currently, JJ Spaun and Rory McIlroy are preparing to tee it up in a three hole playoff. Given the current world standings and past history, McIlroy should be the odds on favourite. However, I have played in a couple playoff of a golf tournaments where it was sudden death – one I lost and one I won. I used two different approaches that produced two different results. Both were learning experiences and my golf game was better for the opportunities to test my game under pressure.

2024 US Open: Bryson DeChambeau
Congratulations to Bryson DeChambeau for winning the 2024 US Open. There was an exciting struggle down the stretch against Rory McIlroy.
Unfortunately, McIlroy struggled on the last four holes and DeChambeau came through in the clutch. Specifically, his 55 yard sand shot on the 18th hole to six feet was the shot that clinched the US title.

Congratulations to Bryson Dechambeau on his second US Open title.

Final Round Of The US Open
Today is the final round of the US Open held at Pinehurst No. 2 golf course. The players are the top worked some magic yesterday with Bryson DeChambeau leading the pack. The course is a beast the totes small lightning-fast greens, challenging rough, and tough playing conditions. The play today will set the stage for some amazing play with many highs and lows. The difficulty for most armchair analysts is who will step up to claim the title? Will it be someone from the back or will the leaders duke it out in a slug fest?

I have to say that as an avid golfer, I forgot that the US Open started yesterday. I was engrossed in my daily routine and thoughts of my own game when someone asked me who I thought would win. The question did take me by surprise and to be honest, I have completed very little research. I know it is being played at Pinehurst No. 2, at Pinehurst, North Carolina and it is playing over 7500 yards. After that, I plan to delve into what is happens today after my chores are finished for the day. Regardless, I do have a couple thoughts after looking at the Day 1 results.

Many people think that Confucius is only talking about life. Well, I would suggest that it definitely applies to golf as well. As we travel through our golf journey, we attain a great deal of knowledge that helps or changes our game. The real test is whether we are willing to use that know ledge properly. See what Rory McIlroy has to say:
Knowing our golf game and accepting our limitations is a great first step to playing great golf. Even McIlroy states that professionals will avoid low percentage shots. To me, that just makes sense. After playing thousands of rounds of golf, I realize that I am still learning about my game. It has taken some time, but I also accept that certain aspects of my game (although it is uncomfortable) need to change in order to play better golf. I choose to continue to learn about golf and hopefully that will transition into something better than it is today.
