Actually, the changes to the rules of golf extend past 20. In 17 days, golf as we know it will never be the same because the new rules will allow for players to be penalized less for poor play. Overall, I think this is a good idea for the casual player looking for an outing on the links that is not wrought with frustration. I am not sure about you, but I am excited that the new rules of golf are coming! It is exciting because a revamp like this has not happened in many years. There will be many changes and as such, I will cover most of them over the next few months. I think it is important to be ready come January with the new knowledge needed to play my favourite game. The rules of golf have two distinct reasons for existence. The first is to level the playing field by requiring players to follow a standard set of rules applied equally across the board. Lexi Thompson made the news again on the weekend by being awarded a two-stroke penalty for moving a sign that was considered an immovable object. This seems rather strange that someone of her calibre and knowledge would make such a rookie mistake.
