Working At My Short Game To Lower My Golf Score

This season I have dedicated some time to improving my short game. I have adjusted my stance and ball position and feel that this major change has definitely helped with shots around 100 yards or closer. I still have a couple of struggles mishitting the ball, but that is to be expected when trying to create a new normal. I have a match today against Len, who is probably one of the top three players at the course. I am up there as well, so it should be a great match where nothing is conceded. With this in mind, I will put into use some of the things I practiced over the past few weeks.

Valuable Practice On My Short Game

I finally had time to hit the practice green and work on my short game. After about 15 minutes of chipping, I spent another 20 putting various distances and very few breaks. I was working on my setup, foot position, and aim points. After about 5 minutes of freelancing I decided to set up one of go-to putting drills. It works on my aim and distance control and forces me to focus on two important aspects of putting at the same time. Two very important aspects of putting the improves my making distance from six foot or less!

A Chipping Drill For All Situations

I have tried many chipping drills. Some have helped and others…..well, not so much. I do support trying to use the same chipping technique for most shots around the green, but switch clubs to achieve the desired results. I have tried many different drills to hone my chipping skills and I have found one that I use repeatedly throughout the season. It works well for short game and I think it will help yours as well.

My Favourite Golf Drill

Do you have favourite golf drill? Of the 27 million drills (google search) I wonder if you have one drill that you rely on to make your game sharp. I have tried many, created a few, and generally revert back to the proven few. Of all the drills, I do have a favourite one that always seems to maintain my game and many cases improve it. I have tried variations to the this drill with respect to putting and chipping. But the foundation of the drill stays and it this helps improve my touch on and around the green.
