Think, Decide, Visualize Your Shot In Golf

The process of making a great (actually any) shot in golf is very simple. Before you start yelling at your screen, I said the process is simple, not the actual execution. My forward approach to this topic is based on many years of playing, watching, asking questions, and experimenting on the plethora of shot making possibilities. After a long litany of approaches to making the right golf shot at the right time, I have pared down my shot process to three simple pre-steps that work every time.

First Swing Of The Round

Depending on whether you had the time to prepare, if any, will likely determine your mental state on your first swing of your round. Through the course of 6000+ golf shots I take each year, I can honestly say that I might be confused on how to play a golf shot a couple of times. I believe I can assess how to play 99.5% within seconds of arriving at my ball. The other 0.5% of the time I will have to think about my best options. But, every so often (actually rarely) I am confused or dumbfounded on how to play a shot. I know this sounds crazy, but it happens!
