The 2014 golf season is over! The Ryder Cup was the pinnacle event that capped of a very interesting golf year. In future articles I will talk about the goods, the bads and the uglys of the golf season. But for now, we go into hibernation waiting for the 2014-2015 to start!
But wait, the 2014-2015 golf season starts in only 2 weeks! Thank goodness we do not have to wait too long! The 2014 Ryder Cup extended the professional golf season by 2 weeks, so that means we will have our golfing fix sooner than expected. For that, I am grateful.
Here is the schedule for the first seven events of the 2014-15 PGA TOUR season.

It is unlikely that any of the big names will be playing in the first few tournaments. The Ryder Cup cut into their down time and they will need some time to recharge their batteries. The absence of the top golfers will present an awesome opportunity for journeyman to start quick and, like Jimmy Walker, ride their early successes into a top position in the FedEx standings.
What are you going to do during the 2-week layoff as we wait for the 2014 – 2015 PGA Tour Season to start?
I am a grateful golfer! See you on the links!

Jim, NOOOOO, say it ain’t over!!! I think you need to plan a winter golf trip somewhere!
As for me, I took the entire month of September off to heal some nagging injuries and recharge the golfing batteries. Getting ready to crank up my play and practice for Oct/Nov and then will shut it down. One thing I’ve observed over the past few seasons; the worse my Washington Redskins play, the better my golf gets. . .Frees up more time on Sundays 🙂 Be that as it may, I should be playing pretty well this fall, ugh!
Looking forward to your musings during the off season!
Best,
Brian

Frye’s used to be held south of San Jose near Gilroy the garlic capital of the world. Volunteered last year but can’t make it up to Napa this year. Figures this year Rory is signed up. Yes golf is like hockey if only that it has a full year life cycle almost. Happy new year!

I would have thought Rory would take a month off or so. He is a machine right now is the best golfer in the world. If he starts quick, the PGA Tour might have another Tiger on their hands.

Jim,
I too am grateful there will be golf to watch again soon! It presents a great opportunity for the up and coming players to get a jump start. To me, however, it still feels like the season officially starts next year in Hawaii.
I also look forward to the World Challenge in December. I think Isleworth should be a great new host.
Cheers!

I am grateful as well. Unfortunately, the coverage is a little light this time of year, but I manage to watch a couple rounds here and there. Time to start thinking about my plan for next year.
