How to make putts when the pressure is on can be very challenging. Putting is usually tough at the best of times! Add a camera and things become even more challenging.
As you watch this video, watch as the ball is moved closer and closer to the hole to help facilitate a positive result.
So what do you think? What increases the pressure when you are making a putt? I really want to know!
I am a grateful golfer! See you on the links!
Hi Jim,
Fun video. I think pressure, particularly for amateurs, comes mostly from within and the pressure turns to fear. Fearing humiliation from missing a short putt, being attached to score, not wanting to get grilled by your buds over a beer after etc. All common mistakes for the amateur. So for me, putting well under “pressure” simply comes down staying relaxed yet confident via my attitude and my thoughts, something that can be trained with mental exercises. Expecting to make everything yet at the same time knowing you won’t and accepting it.
Cheers

Great comment. I agree that FEAR has lots to do about missing short putts. I agree that staying calm is an asset to great putting….just doing it is sometimes the challenge.

Agreed Jim! Like many things in golf, it’s easy to say it and another thing to implement it. It is sure a fun challenge to get there!

Looking at the video that green seemed pretty slow, the longer the grass the slower the green. The ball is affected more by longer grass making reading of the putt that much harder. At least you had fun making the video, laughter is always the best sound.

We actually tried about 6 times to make the putt. By the end we were killing ourselves! You are right about the putt, but I figured we would have figured that out sooner. Thanks for weighing in!
