Recently, I stumbled across Sergio Garcia making a golf shot from the cart path. Normally this would not be anything odd for Sergio, however he did without any shoes. Of course we have all watched as players remove shoes and roll up they pant legs for shots out of the water, but I have never seen someone remove their shoes to hit off a cart path. Have you?
Over the years, I have removed my shoes and an outer layer of clothing but that is about it. Remember Gary Woodland in the final round of The Honda Classic 2016 or Aquaman, Woody Austin in the 2007 Presidents cup, these and more are golf shots where players removed an article of clothing to make a golf shot.
I am confident that I would never remove my pants or shirt to play a golf shot, but I guess some believe it is required. Regardless of what I think, removing an article of clothing to make a golf shot is an option when playing. How about you, have you removed an article of clothing to make a golf shot?
Golf is a strange game some times and removing clothing to make a shot is just one example. I guess it really boils down to what the player thinks.
I am a grateful golfer! See you on the links!
Jim, maybe metal spikes will make a comeback next season when it will be legal to fix spike marks on the greens. Canβt beat them for traction, except on the cart paths!

I think greens keepers did not like them either because people torn up the course because of the way theybwalled. But that is a guess on my part.

Sergio is one of the few who still wears metal spiked shoes. So swinging while standing on the cart path with metal spikes on would be less than optimal.

And yes, I’ve removed shoes and socks before and would happily play that way all day if allowed.

I heard about Sergio wearing metal spikes. I thought they were banned. I guess it is a local rule.

They arenβt banned on tour, but I believe youβre right about local rules. Personally, I miss them for stability, especially off the tee, but I donβt miss the damage they create on the greens. Someone should have figured out how to make them retractable like an airplanes landing gear or something.

Retractable spikes. That is an interesting idea! You should patent that idea!
