Just Another Day On The Links

I would like to think that today was going to be just another day on the links. Unfortunately, my golf season has come to a screeching halt. Due to the rise in COVID cases, our province has made the tough decision to expand the stay at home order including closing all golf courses. Go figure, after shooting a 75 last time out, I will have to wait at least 30 days before the golf courses will be open in our area. I have admit that I am very disappointed, but understand the reason for the government’s decision. I guess the next question is now what?

The quick answer is to reset my training program and to continue using my home made driving area and to expand my outdoor chipping area. Well, at least for starters that is where I will have to focus some of my training efforts. Additionally, I will have to continue with my physical training regime to ensure I do not lose any of my current gains. But, there has to be more than just this to keep my interest going over the next 30 days.

I am not really sure what I am going to do more, but I think I have an idea. Before I share it, I will have to investigate to make sure it is possible.

I will thinking of my other friends who are in the same boat as me and send them positive thoughts and hopes that they weather this storm safe and sound.

I really do not have anything more to share for today. I hope you are still able to hit the links and enjoy the spring looping your favourite course.

I am a grateful golfer! See you on the links!

  1. Jim, sorry to hear that. I see the spike in cases in your province and hope the vaccine rollout can flatten the curve. It’s frustrating when good safe open air sports like golf get lumped into the safety concerns with everything else. Hopefully the time will pass quick for you and you can stay sharp with DIY. Let us know if you roll out any innovative practice routines.

Best of luck and stay well.

  2. Well, I think after today’s round, what I would do….or rather will do, is get back to the range. My timing needs some work again. And I want to start pushing driver swing speed with an actual ball and not just swinging out on our little range where a driver isn’t something you can hit without worries about damaging something or someone.

I know those aren’t options for you. My best suggestion would foot powder on both the face of the club and the mat while you get your practice swings in so you dial in what you’ve worked on this winter.
