“In 2021, the Open will return to Royal St George’s for the first time since 2011, when an emotional Darren Clarke fulfilled his boyhood dream of becoming Champion Golfer of the Year. Located on the Kent coastline, the Sandwich links will showcase the world’s best players as they compete for the Claret Jug in The 149th Open.” (The Open) Royal St George is a tough track and will test the nerves of all the players, especially the leaders, throughout the four days of competition. The Claret Jug will definitely be earned this year!
Unfortunately, I have not followed the build up to The Open and I do not have any idea who is favoured or any of the news building up to the first tee off yesterday. The Open is my second favourite Major and due to other events (all self-imposed) I will have to watch the leaderboard to see who is going to win.
For those who are not sure about the layout of Royal St. George, here is a great video showing all the holes.
If I was to pick a winner, I would go with any Canadian first, Jordan Spieth or Rory McIlroy. I will look at the leaderboard later today to see how I am doing, but until then, I hope you are enjoying the action.
I am a grateful golfer! See you on the links!
