A Simple Drill To Improve Our Chipping

I am always on the look out for simple, easy and repeatable drills I can use to improve my golf game. The less complicated drill that reinforces my fundamental chipping swing are best. I found one from Me and My Golf that fits the criteria for a great golf drill. Additionally, I can do this anywhere and do not need to carry extra kit.

Thanks to Jason Day for the great drill.

What I like about this drill is that it forces me to keep my upper body in a stable and consistent position when chipping. It quietens all extra movement like trying to help the ball to the green. I also like the alignment stick on the group, but a club will produce the same alignment requirements. Another benefit of this drill is that I can use in my garage this winter with my DIY chipping/hitting area.

Overall, I give this drill a thumbs up. Have you ever tried this drill before? If so, did it work for your game?

I am a grateful golfer! See you on the links!

  1. Hey Jim, just a heads up. The video link isn’t to a video. It goes to a page that wants you to join meandmygolfs membership.

But I’ve seen that drill advocated by many a pro over the years. Anyone who want to see it can find one on youtube.

Pete Cowen gives lessons to the best golfers on the planet. Here’s a link to a page where he discusses play around the green during an interview about his book I believe.

I’ve only just browsed through the page. I think I want to buy the book actually. He’s a super coach. His advice has helped make many a great golfer better.
