All I can really say is WOW! That was quite a display of golf all around, but Rory McIlroy stole the show. Shooting a 7 under 65 with 2 bogeys is amazing. Who would have thought that he would develop such a commanding lead. Knowing how golf goes, most of the pundits will say that McIlroy is a lock to win (given past history of such leads), however moving day starts soon and anything can happen. Given his current state of play, I would suggest that he is likely to win by shooting two more rounds of 70; but, you cannot count out any of the top players from shooting their own 65 to close the gap. I guess that is why we watch Major golf tournaments.
It was quite a display of golf yesterday from many players. Several players were overlooked because of McIlroy’s great play; players such as Justin Rose 68 and Tommy Fleetwood 67. These are great scores at Augusta National and will be marginalized by the best score of the day at 7 under. Unfortunately, none of the 6 amateurs made the cut. I always like watching these non-professionals compete in high pressure events like The Masters.

It is always fun to watch the approach shots and putting during any round at Augusta. However, the power of these professionals is often overlooked. Many of the top players can boom the ball out over 300+ yards without hesitation with very strong accuracy. As I watched yesterday, the odd player really hit one out there and here are a few examples:
It is moving day at the Masters. And anything can happen. As I watch later in the day, the top of the leaderboard will be jockeying around for new positions. As long as McIlroy plays steady golf (and stays in play off the tee) he will still be the leader at the end of today. The question is who will be fighting for second place.
I am a grateful golfer! See you on the links!
