What Did You Shoot On That Hole?

Have you ever wondered how some players notoriously forget how many strokes they made on a hole? I can understand that adding up penalty strokes with the actual number of swings can sometimes be challenging. Or, from time to time overlooking one stroke (it happens to everyone). However, playing with that person who never knows how many strokes they took or habitually leaves a couple of strokes off can make for a challenging round!

Changing the Loft When Chipping

The loft on a golf club are designed for specific reasons. Some are lower lofts to hit the ball far and others are higher to help control your shot at the pin. This is a known fact and yet many players grab a lofted club (like a wedge) and change their stance and grip to de-loft the face. I have to admit that early in my career, I felt it was the right thing to do, but now it just seems crazy!

The Rules of Golf Have Changed

Just in case someone was not paying attention, in January of this year, the governing bodies of golf have introduced new rules. After 5 years or so of deliberation, and much fanfare, a whole new set of rules and guidelines were introduced to make golf easier and more fun. I am not sure all amateurs are aware, but surely to goodness that the professionals were told about the changes!

The Uniqueness of the Golf Swing

The golf swing is best described as a 1000 minor movements flawlessly combined to create a smooth, rhythmic, effortless motion that transfers energy from the club to the ball. Of course many of us who try to accomplish this feat realize that the task of creating a golf swing is far more complicated that than. And any minor variance in those 1000 minor movements can cause disaster time and time again. Because of our different physical attributes, the each golf swing in unique to each player and the cookie cutter approach to improvement, in my opinion, causes more harm than good. Let me explain!
