The Players Championship starts tomorrow. Moved this year to March, it is the largest non-Major event of the 2019 golf season. Of course the pundits have made their choices and the usual names are at the top of the list. If you follow what has been happening so far this year, choosing a winner will be more difficult than expected. Regardless, I thought it would be fun lay out my thoughts and to let you know who will be in the winner’s circle on Sunday!

I try to be a polite player when on the links. I believe it is important to compliment my opponent if they do something worthy of saying “good shot”. Unfortunately, many players automatically respond to any shot with a positive platitude. Personally, I find this annoying and would prefer my playing partner not feel the need to comment of every shot. Let me explain!

Every golfer has a pace of play that suits their game. I know that much talk has indicated that the professionals are to blame for amateurs taking their sweet time on the links, but I am not entirely convinced that this is the case. Without getting into a huge discussion, today, the complaints about slow professionals is purely economical and has nothing to do with everyday golf.
Having said this, I actually do not believe that changing a players pace of play actually hurts their game…..within reason of course!

With 36 days to go before opening day, my anticipation for playing golf continues to grow. Many of you in the warmer climes have dusted off your clubs and are hitting the links already. Of course I am jealous, but there is nothing I can do about it at this time. With snow banks over 6 feet high in some areas, indoor golf work will continue for the foreseeable future. One of the positive aspects of the having so much time on my hands is my ability to plan out how much golf I plan on playing this season. And believe me, it is going to be alot!
