I like to ask inquisitive questions to get the mental juices flowing. Every once in a while, the question sparks an usually high quantity of responses that garners some very interesting findings. A couple of days ago, my question about your favorite wedge was just enough to get the ball rolling. Additionally, I found out something that I had suspected, but no can confirm as an interesting phenomenon that affects virtually all golfers who carry more than one wedge.

Emotionally Detached When Playing Golf
After watching Sergio Garcia and Bryson DeChambeau express frustration while hitting the ball poorly out of a sand trap, I wonder if something is wrong out side of golf. Generally, they are intense players, but manage their emotions very well. Unfortunately, their over-reaction is something we see fairly often from professionals on tour in the form of swearing, throwing clubs, or in Sergio and Bryson’s case damaging the course. However, if we think the professionals are losing it, image how many amateurs react!

At the forefront of everything was the play of the eventual winner: JB Holmes. He was one example of how the PGA Tour is losing the battle between showing the top players and not having to watch them for 6 hours!

The topic of sponsor exemptions for celebrities has bounced around as a semi-hot subject. I am not inferring that PRO-AMs are a bad thing, in fact I enjoy watching some of the antics by various celebrities. However, these events are set up this way and all the fans understand that this is not a regular event like all other professional golf tournaments. Personally, I not a fan of celebrities being given a sponsor exemption to play with the pros. And it appears I am in the majority on this topic.
