Each year, I set a goal for the number of rounds of golf I will play and generally exceed my prediction. Gaining Strokes To The Field in a Golf Tournament
Playing in a golf tournament offers many opportunities to gain strokes on the field. These scoring opportunities can happen at any time on the golf course, but there are certain holes where shooting a good (or poor) score makes more of a difference to the leaderboard. Over the years, I benefited from great shots and gained up to 2 strokes on the field on one hole; it was all a matter of timing. Continue reading
Focusing On Your Aim Point
This week I participated in Canadian Military Curling Regionals at Kingston, Ontario. Fortunately, I was team with three awesome curlers and mainly because of their great play, we won the event. During the three days of curling, I learned a great deal about the sport and a few things that will help me on the golf course. Pointing Fingers at Your Golf Partner
I love to play in golf tournaments. I think competition helps hone my game and make me a stronger golfer. Last year, I played in 8 tournaments that are designed as team events. Some of these were charity events and the score really was not important, but I I always like to play my best. And not matter what happens, I never point fingers at my playing partners. The whole ‘glass house’ metaphor comes to mind. I have watch other players crank at their playing partners and I think that is just bad form. Continue reading
