Is it Time for a Slump?

Golf is exciting and challenging every time I hit the links. I never know what is going to happen and this is all part of the game. For me, this is all part of the draw of playing golf. Starting on 23 April, I have 22 games recorded for my handicap and at least 15+ other times on the links. That is a fair bit of golf in such a short time and it is about now in years past I entered into a mini slump. Continue reading

Playing on a Familiar Golf Course

Are you a member at a golf course? Have you played there for years? If so, then you might unwittingly be a victim of your own familiarity. Yes, that is right; If you are not careful, playing the same course most of the time is not good for your golf game! Familiarity breeds complacency, sloppy course management, and the “I have always played this hole this way” attitude. All of which results in high scores and a tendency to accept mediocrity! Match Play – Gross Event Results

After some work, I was able to squeeze in my second Match Play of the week. Fortunately, this was the gross event and I did not have to give 11 strokes to my playing partner. Arriving early at the course, I practiced my chipping and putting. I have not played in a while, so I thought it was time to practice. I had time to chip with my 52º wedge and putt a few balls. When my opponent, Don Secord, arrived, he did the same. After about 5 minutes, we both decided that it was time to head to the first tee. Continue reading

Dog Fight Format in Golf

The dog fight is a different format for Men’s Night. At Osprey Links Golf Course, we seem to play this format more often than not. I have never played this format before, and actually never heard of it until recently. Honestly, I am not a fan during Men’s Night because it does not promote interaction between all the players and it does not give all teams an opportunity to win.    Continue reading
