Do you think it is too early to start preparing for golf season? Well, it might be a bit early to pull out all my clubs and give them a cleaning; yet, I do have the bug to start doing something. I have decided on where to start and really was not that difficult. With an extreme cold spell coming until early next week, I have a bit of time to prepare. For three years I have started the same way and it now time to take up the tradition.

Do You Have A Travelling Handicap Index?
During a recent conversation on Twitter with my friends Serge and Andre, we stumbled on a great topic. Actually, Andre is the person who first brought up his desire to lower his traveling handicap and that sparked a thought. I have spent years touting the benefits of creating a handicap index through Golf Canada and supporting your local golf course. I still adamantly support this view, but I wonder how solid my handicap index really is if I record 98% of my rounds on my home course!

There is no correct way to celebrate a great golf shot. The definition of a great shot is unique as the celebration itself. I am not sure about you, but my level of celebration is directly correlated to how great the shot actually was and where the celebration takes place. Make no mistake, I do celebrate or at least acknowledge a great shot almost every time.

Every 365 days Groundhog Day rolls around. Today all golfers in the northern climes wait in anticipation for the weather prediction of rodents: Wiarton Willie and Punxsutawney Phil. The pressure exuded by golfers on these special creatures to predict an early spring is overwhelming. Each year as these loveable creatures climb out of their hole, millions of eyes are focused on their every move; if they see their shadow and scurry back home to safety, it means that golfers will have to wait an additional 6 weeks for winter to slowly become a distant memory.

If you have golfed for any length of time, I am confident that you have second guessed one of your golf shots. We all do it and it is an important aspect of learning and improving our game. I have second guessed many decisions on the golf course and use many of my conclusions to build my future course management decisions. This process is a self-analytical method that helps my game; however, it is not at process I use to second guess another players actions.
