Have you ever had an argument with yourself about your golf swing. You know, when you are hitting the ball well (or poorly) and you decide that you need a change. The change many not be required, but you start to have an internal dialogue with yourself about how to squeeze that little bit extra out of your game. Sometimes this internal argument lasts for seconds and others for much, much longer. It really can be a game changer for your golf swing and usually for the worse.

Playing Great Golf and Still Losing Ground
My regular group of players like to participate in Men’s Night and Senior Men’s morning. It was a fun way to talk to other member’s of Osprey Links Golf Course and it offers an opportunity to play games for small prizes. The challenge to playing these games is finding ones that are fair to all the players of different playing levels. The toughest game is the ‘dog fight’, which we played last Thursday for Senior Men’s. We played great, but did not gain any ground on the top team.

Generally, I will play in the rain as long as it starts raining after I tee off. If it is raining before or the forecast is for a deluge of rain, then I am less likely to tee it up on that day. I feel that I play enough in the good weather not to worry about missing a day or two, now and again. I am not sure if this is good strategy for my overall game, but that is the one I have adopted this year.

I mentioned playing in my first charity scramble yesterday in support of the North Bay Humane Society. This event is called the Monaghan and Furry Friends Scramble. It was held at Osprey Links Golf Course and again I can say that I was not disappointed.

I enjoy playing in these events because it helps me give back to my community and still play golf. How can this ever be a bad thing?

It is great to see that charity tournaments are back on the golfing schedule. For the longest time, we were unsure if they would be played given the new COVID policies at the golf course. However, with a few modifications to the tournament format, The Grateful Golfers, (Blair, Rick, Fernando, and myself) put in a team to support the local Humane Society. We tee it up tomorrow and I am just working out the strategy now.
