Yesterday, my quest to ask an interesting question on my social media sites went crazy. I like to interact with other golfers and see what they think on a plethora of issues. Surprisingly, I received almost ten times the normal responses and as a result had a hard time responding to everyone. Managing Statistics And What They Can Say
Statistics are a part of the modern era. They can be gathered, analysed, and shaped in at a moments notice. Depending on your focus, they can lead you down the wrong path or point you towards a pot of gold. This is true in all aspects of our life, but the challenge is to stay focused on the stat that means the most. The trick is to find that stat and shape your decision-making and actions to influence it. By doing so, a domino effect will occur and many areas of your data collection will grow. Let me explain.

Touted as a possible breeding ground for the COVID-19 disease, government officials at all levels have decided to close these facilities. This decision is a positive step to #flattenthecurve, however the powers to be should not make blanket decisions the will crush the future of the golf industry so they will have a chance to survive at the end of this very difficult journey.

On a side note, if you are wondering “A vision is a vivid mental image of what you want your business to be at some point in the future, based on your goals and aspirations.” (Queensland Government) This definition really sums up where I want to go, but how exactly do I get there? Prior to our current challenges, speed of play was an ongoing topic of discussion. One of the solutions for slow play was for amateurs to adopt the concept of ‘ready golf’. Basically, this means that every player, in between shots, should get ready to play their next shot. This is a concept I adopted years ago and with some great success. However, from my experience of playing with other amateurs, I am not entirely sure all amateurs have the where-with-all to actually execute the ‘ready golf’.
