Living in the country, there are no opportunities to shop for golf stuff unless I drive about 3.5 hours. This limitation is okay because when I do make it to the golf store, I spend a great deal of time window shopping for something that I need (or want 😉 ). In the meantime, I try to shop online for all my golfing needs and in the past the experience was quite rewarding. Unfortunately, this year is far less productive or rewarding. I went online to my usual places and was not enticed to open my wallet…..I wonder if I am missing something?

Time To Change My Golf Clubs!
I have played my Mizuno MP 20s for two seasons now and it is time to trade them in for something better! You know, after two years and about 100+ rounds, there are no good shots left in them. Hence, my decision to change my clubs has come in a whim. I figure that by changing my clubs my game will improve and I should take one step closer to being a scratch golfer!

I spend a bit of time each year thinking about whether I have the proper equipment in my golf bag. As I age, my swing, physical conditioning, and flexibility vary more frequently than in the past. This is not a bad thing (sort of), but the nature of any player who is entering the latter part of their golfing career. At this time, I use stiff shaft golf clubs because my swing speed is at the low end of where stiff shafts are recommended by professional golf fitters. I am comfortable with my choice because I currently hit the ball straight and reasonably long. However, this does not stop me from examining my equipment every spring as I prepare for the upcoming season.

He was wondering which clubs to carry and to stay within the 14 club rule. I gave him a call and we talked about how much he played and the cost/value if he should purchase any new equipment. It was a very good conversation and it made me realize that the composition of each bag should be different to match the players game.

After replacing your divot, (hint hint), your next step before putting your club back in your bag should be to clean your club. I have watched many players hit their shot and immediately put their clubs away dirty. I often think that their grooves are full of dirt and how could they get any grip on the ball with dirty grooves. Am I crazy for thinking this way? Well, I have concrete proof that cleaning your clubs after each hit is important!
