The Golf Historical Society of Canada is hosting an awesome annual event. I am planning to attend at this time, but need to work out a couple challenges. If you are interested, see the flyer below.

When playing golf are there shots that cause you anxiety? Is there a situation you hate to find yourself because success seems impossible. How about putting that three foot downhill breaker for par, does that cause you angst? The emotional responses to all of these challenges are rooted in one thing: FEAR: False Evidence Appearing Real. When shoots that increase the pressure on our ability to perform arise, I had a tendency to think of all the wrong possible outcomes. Yup, I was so focused on missing, I actually forgot to believe that I could make the shot….is that not the definition of crazy for any golfer!
Continue readingI am not sure why many fans of golf originally gravitated towards the sport. I am confident that what ever reason brought someone over is as unique as a snowflake. In the modern day of social media, instant news, and a constant barrage of useless information, creating drama seems to be quickly becoming a method to garner interest (regardless of how fleeting) It seems that controversy sells and positive deeds are overlooked in many cases. As a person who reads and writes about about golf, I am not sure that the path fame in the golfing world is paved by constantly talking about contentious topics. Does creating drama actually draw new viewers to golf or does it turn off the people who are already tuned in?

Are you looking for that new technique that will change your game? There seems to be a plethora of ways to improve or expand our golf game if we really are looking. After an awesome discussion with Lorne Emery, President of the Golf Historical Society of Canada, he convinced me that looking backward might offer an easy way to lower our golf scores. As you might remember, I have recently decided to join the GHSC and venture down the road of hickory shaft golf clubs and I think I have found a new way to expand my game!
Continue readingPart of the strategy of in a match play golf tournament is conceding a hole. The challenge for many players is understand the impact of conceding a hole. Losing one hole doe not generally impact the overall result early in the match, but as the holes unfold this may not be the case. Additionally, there is a mental side of conceding a hole that might have a greater impact on the score may not be immediately seen. Additionally, conceding a putt to half a hole is in a way letting your opponent off the hook and this might be the deeper issue of match play golf.
