Share your experiences as a grateful golfer!

From time to time, I like to post reasons why I am a grateful golfer. It is not to brag about my great life, but to remind myself about the wonderful aspects of my journey to be a scratch golfer.

My golf journey is reflective of my general attitude towards life; being grateful and trying to remain positive during my daily adventures. There is no magic formula, but a conscious choice to approach life in an upbeat manner. To follow that path, I have decided to create a new page about what it means to be a grateful golfer. Golfing Perfection!

In the past, I talked about your go to shot! I asked if you had a shot that, no matter what was happening, it was a shot that you had total confidence in executing. Having this shot in your bag, definitely helps keep your scores low! However, this shot is a rescue shot, but not really a “that awe-inspiring”shot.

I believe that Canada is the best country in the world!

I am a grateful Canadian!

Customer Service is critical to a fantastic golfing experience!

Customer service separates just playing golf from a great golfing experience! Most golfers remembers a golf course, but the real treasure is when they remember the golfing experience at a golf course.

You know what I mean. From the moment you drive on to the property until the time you leave, you are treated with respect and a feeling of welcome. Many large resorts bend over backwards to have everything at your fingertips. They have a large operating budget and you also pay for this type of quality service. However, the golfing experience I am referring too follows this same business model, yet on a smaller scale!

Final Round of Golf At Roundel Glen

Recently, I retired from 32+ years of active full-time service in the Royal Canadian Air Force. My career was exciting and, looking back, went by very quickly. On that note, my wife and I have decided to move to North Bay to be near family and to embark on a new journey. With this in mind, on Wednesday past, I played my last official round as a member at Roundel Glen Golf Course.

After 3 years of great golf, I was invited to play my final round with my friend Mac. With time on my hands, we teed it up in the middle of the morning (because I had time). As we approached the first tee, we were joined by the Club Pro, Jay Masters, and a single named Gord. After shaking hands and quick intros, it was time to play some golf!
