Often overlooked, mid irons (5, 6, and 7 irons) are often overlooked by amateurs as they like to hit the hybrids and woods as much as possible. At Osprey Links, I hit my mid irons on at least half the holes. This happens on most par 4s (of which there are 9) and as such, half of my approach shots occur with these clubs. If 10% of my shots are happening with a group of clubs, then I would suggest that I need to ensure I know how to use them in order to keep my golf scores as low as I possibly can. Establishing this need, I have to wonder if there is anything special I need to do to ensure I hit my mid irons like professionals.

Hitting My Approach Shots Left
During every golf season, I always have challenges with some aspect of my golf swing that I did not expect. Recently, I mentioned that I was attempting to make some minor modifications to my swing when using the driver. I am trying to hit the ball just a bit higher in order to increase my distance off the tee. One of my goals this year is to stretch my average drive from 250 to 260 yards. After doing some research, I felt to achieve that goal, in needed to make minor modifications to my swing without sacrificing my accuracy. I am happy to say, so far so good.

Removing my long irons out of my golf bag and replacing them with hybrids was the smartest decision I made with respect to my golf equipment. This particular journey start in 2009 when I was diagnosed with Lymphoma for the first time. I was feeling a bit down and I decided to purchase a set of Cleveland launchers that had a 3, 4, and 5 hybrid instead of irons. I had thought about making the change to hybrids (dabbling with their use) and the time was right. Although my journey was a bit of a roller coaster ride, I think the decision to commit to using hybrids elevated my game to the next level.
