Golf PSA: Stay Hydrated On The Golf Course

My PSA might sound like a no-brainer, yet as my season is beginning it is important to remember to say protected on the golf course. Hydration is a critical health requirement when playing golf and it is easy to overlook carrying water when playing. Personally, I always carry one litre of water as a minimum because I have felt the affects of dehydration on the golf course and it is not fun. Ensuring we are physically ready for playing golf in the heat will transfer to lower golf scores most of the time.

Staying The Course For Success

Are you a panic golfer? When you miss a shot or two, do you start looking for ways to improve your swing? In years past, I was that exact golfer. I felt that when things started to veer off the rails, I needed to immediately change, adjust or tweak something in swing in order to get back on course. Honoured To Play In A Two Day Golf Event

On Tuesday and Wednesday last, I was invited to join an fantastic group of golfers who have connections to my new home town of Mattawa, Ontario, Canada. I met the organizer, Paul, a year before I moved to Mattawa and he invited me to join this annual trip to Pembroke, Ontario. This year 64 friends congregated at the Oaks of Cobden Golf Course and Pembroke Golf Course to share stories, remember the good ole days, have a few libations, and play golf. As this was my first year, I marveled at the camaraderie that in some cases goes back 60 years! It was a fantastic way to start off my golf season and I am already looking forward to next year’s event!

So You Think You Are A Great Putter!

Putting is the great equalizer. I know this because many of my scores were the result of great or poor putting. If you talk to any of your golfing friends, they will agree that the flat stick can change the fortunes of any round. Personally, I think and know that I am a better than average putter for my handicap, yet my confidence can be shaken with a couple of poor first putts. Knowing all of this, I have to remind myself to keep things in perspective before flying off the handle.

Best Start To My Golf Season Ever!

My golf season started on a high note yesterday. I have had many great starts, but this year was my best ever. There were two instances that set yesterday’s round above my previous first rounds. I realize that this is my second round of the year, but my first round at my new home course. If the rest of my season maintains the high I had after the first hole, then my 2022 golf season is going to be awesome!
