Golf tips are designed, in most cases, to improve your golf game. Typing in ‘golf tips’ into Google, I received 1,400,000,000 responses in just 0.5 seconds. Obviously, I will have to refine my search to something more specific, yet regardless of how refined I make my search I still need to practice to develop the skill needed to improve my game. My point for this mini diatribe is that regardless of the tip, it really only provides an 80 percent solution to your quandaries. It is impossible to find the one tip that actually works for your game all the time; by striving for an 80% solution magical things can happen to your game.

Greens in regulation (GIR) is the the one stat that I tops all others. Of course the challenge of achieving a high GIR percentage is something I try to work at most of the time. It sets up great scores and helps build confidence in your ball striking. For example, yesterday during my round I shot my season high of 14 greens in regulation (78%). I realize that it is only the first of September, but around here the weather quickly changes. Thus, my play takes a dramatic turn to the left and I play less and less. Can you see my sad face as I write this last line. 😦
Continue readingPutting Golf Clubs In the Penalty Box
Yesterday, I played a good round of golf, yet did not score well. I finished with a 79 and felt that I could have scored a great deal lower. I started off worse than normal, but after a few breakfast balls 😉 we started our round. Running to the first tee after 5 days of house renos left me a little tight, but I quickly loosened up. Anyway, without complaining about my start, I hit the ball well for most of the round. I did however, struggle with two clubs and I really felt like the should be relegated to the penalty box (sin bin). They let me down and cost me at least five strokes.
