I laugh to myself all the time when I discuss age with my friends. I am at the vintage where I remember things that might be considered ‘ancient history’ by today’s generation of golfers. Regardless, age is something that is as much a mental state as physical. My view is very evident when you talk to golfers. Many of us believe that we are still in our mid 20s or 30s; when in fact those days are long past. But, is this really a bad thing?

There are so many thoughts and ideas on what a great golf swing should look like, that I easily become overwhelmed by a deluge of information. As I sift through the murk and mire of data, I quickly realize that a controlled swing is really my ultimate goal to lowering my golf scores. I continue to work on my golf swing to ensure that that I understand all the aspects the golf swing so I can optimize it to my capabilities. And that is crux of the matter to produce greatness in a controlled golf swing.

I thought that most players would have equipment, like myself, that is 5 or 6 years old and that they change the sticks out regularly. Boy was I wrong! As it turns out, over half the golfers keep at least one club for a very long time. I bet you cannot guess which club they keep the longest!

It is time! I have decided to look for a new set of clubs and so the search begins. My current Titleist AP2s are still great clubs, but now is the time to change because of desire, want, and it fiscally makes sense. The challenge is that living in Northern Canada makes it hard to test run clubs without driving at least 3 hours to the nearest golf store. It is only one challenge, but I will overcome it and others.
