For years I believed that the value of a golf membership was based solely on the number of rounds you plan to play each year. I calculated the price per round value to determine if a membership was warranted. I explained this simple math problem to many would-be membership buyers and thought I was doing everyone a good service. Well, after talking to Jeff Rogerson, GM and Managing Director, at my home course of Osprey Links Golf Course, I realize that I have been offering poor advice and today I hope to correct that error.

Becoming a Golf Canada Member
Becoming a Golf Canada Member is a no-brainer. I believe in taking an active role in supporting the growth of the sport I love. Of course my golf blog helps, but so does joining the organization whose sole purpose is to ‘grow the game’. I talked to many of my friends and they seem to be bench-sitting because they are unaware of all the benefits this membership offers. Well, go no further because you are about to be convinced that belonging to Golf Canada has an immediate benefit to you and to the future of golf.

One of the major drawbacks for starting golf seems to point towards cost. I would agree that the initial start-up costs can be hefty, yet I am not convinced golf is really any more expensive that football or hockey. Both sports (and golf) require a certain amount of equipment before anyone can play in an organized fashion.
