The Golden Nuggets of Golf

Life’s journey never ends! We have the ability to change so many aspects of our lives and all it takes is a decision to start. Personally, I believe this is the most difficult aspect of any first steps, yet the most important.

Deciding to change something golf related is no different. Whether you want to fix part of your swing, refocus on how to play your rounds, or make an impact within the golfing community it takes a decision to start a new journey. Regardless of what you are doing or where you a headed, making real change comes down to two very special ‘somethings’ that must be present or else your path down on that branch of your life’s journey is short-lived!

Fixing My Golf Swing By Going Backwards

Whats in your golf bag?

What’s in your golf bag?

Fixing any golf swing is difficult. Fixing your own swing without professional help is insanely challenging. Unfortunately, this is the path I chose to take this year because I did not want to take the time to practice something new given my life changes of retiring and moving. Well, unfortunately my decision caused frustration and disappointment in my game.

As many of you know I was fitted for Titleist AP2, 915 driver, 3-wood and 3-hybrid in June 2015. Since that time, I have struggled with my new driver to a point that I was ready to relegate this club to the no use again bag. So, I had to do something and surprisingly, the new path I choose worked!

Are You Playing Golf Today?

Are you playing golf today? It is a very simple question that does not require much thought. However, let me ask this question again? Are you playing golf today?

The physical act of going to the golf course quickly answers this question with a resounding yes! You make your way to the links, pull out your clubs, hit the ball between 60 and 120 times, pack up your clubs and then go home. So, yes you played golf today. Update: Using a Lob Wedge With Success

This is an update to yesterdays post. Brian from All About Golf asked if I could include a picture (below) showing my feet during set up.

Therefore, I tried to demonstrate using my clubs how my feet and ball position line up. Remember that 60% of my weight will be on my left foot during contact. I hope this helps Brian.

I closed my stance so that my big toe on my back foot aligns 3 inches behind my heel of my front foot. The toes of each foot draw a line to my landing area.

If anyone has any other questions or needs qualification on my ramblings, please do not hesitate to drop me a line!

I am a grateful golfer! See you on the links!

Tips for Beating the Heat in Golf

Golf is a great outdoor sport. It affords us the opportunity to enjoy beautiful scenery, fresh air and other wonderful things that nature provides. We all love to golf in the bright sun with a slight breeze to keep things cool. However, when the temperature starts to push into the 30s Celsius, things start to heat up on the course!

Yesterday, I was playing a mid-afternoon round at Roundel Glen Golf Course. It was 31 degrees Celsius for the entire round with little or no breeze for most of the round. I was walking and pushing my cart. As the round progressed, I found that many aspects of my game started to strain. We talk about golfing in colder weather often, however it is no less challenging hitting the links in the heat!
