Blade or Mallet Putter?

I recently went putter shopping. I have used my current putter for about 25 years. I purchased it with my Mom in Nova Scotia and as such has great sentimental value. I have putted well with this club, but decided it was time for a change. Basically, I have lost the feel for my old putter and decided to open the purse strings for a new one.

I have always felt that putting is the great equalizer and after 25 years, it was time for a change.  Before everyone asks why change if my putter was working, the quick answer was that I notice an increase in my flat stick scores, so it was time to change. Continue reading

Gimmie Putts, Are they a Thing?

Gimmie putts are a thing. Regardless of who we are playing with, we have told our playing partners to pick up their ball. Sometimes it is a mercy gimmie and sometimes it is for strategy, but gimmies are an unofficial part of golf. Last year, I played over 80 rounds of golf and except for tournaments, I will pick up my ball from time to time when playing. Is this fair, probably not, but it is a reality of modern golf. Teaching golf is challenging!

I know you can finish the start of this question. I have lived by the following thought for most of my life. I can honestly admit, that I have done this and some responses have really caused me to think:

Never ask a question if you are not prepared for an honest answer!

I believe we learn from asking questions; it helps expand our knowledge and understanding of a specific topic and it also can guide us on making changes in the future. There are many aspect to asking questions, but regardless, we must be prepared to hear something unexpected.
