Golf season is back and I have played three times in three days with the fourth being today. This year started like no other and looks to continue for some time. I know that the team at Osprey Links are working diligently to make our golfing experiences the best they can be and for that I am grateful. However, after playing three times, I can tell you that very little of our experiences will be considered normal or routine. However, I accept that and will move on with trying to be a better player.

The Perfect Par 3 Distance
I do not know of any golfer that hates to play par 3s. Well, that is until they arrive at the hole and realize that the distance they need to hit is not within their wheelhouse. Then, their elation of stepping up to the tee turns to dread, but does it have to always be that way? Regardless of the situation, every golfer has a perfect distance for their game on the shortest holes on the golf course. It is just matter of knowing what that is to improve our golf scores.

How many times have we complained about an unlucky bounce. About that time you had a great round going until something completely unexpected changed everything. Probably more times than when a good bounce lowered your golf score. Well, being a grateful golfer, I choose to remember the good bounce and whine about the bad. It is a mental approach that has really helped keep my game grounded over the years.

Over my 40+ years of playing golf, I have made a ton of mistakes. I have tried so many swing fixes that I have forgotten most of them. Interestingly, some of my efforts have paid off because my handicap and gross scores continue to improve. The last five years has been tough because cause of life events and my journey to be a scratch golfer has slowed. Regardless of the roller coaster I sometimes ride, I keep making mistakes that help guide me to eventual success. Making mistakes is all part of the learning process!

I have not played golf outdoors since 19 September 2019. That was my last day on the playing outdoors until four days ago when I built my DIY chipping area. Since, I have chipped a minimum of 100 golf balls from 25 yards. And I must say that I am not surprised at my results.
