There are many golf shot routines offered by an equal number of ‘experts’. Over the years I watched many great players hit golf balls and none were exactly the same. Many had things in common, but none were identical. The reason for this disparity is that each routine is tailormade for the individual. Each player has a different physique, swing path, and capabilities. Having said this, there are some commonalities that provide a starting point for players. Three points offered by Chris Ryan are something that I do and have included them in my routine on almost every shot. They are simple, repeatable and do not take a great deal of practice to master; traits I always look for in golf tips.

Unfinished Business On The Golf Course!
I have never played a round of golf where I did not think I had unfinished business on the golf course. Yup, even breaking par I thought that I could have shot a lower score. As my friend Kevin reads this article, I know he feels the same way….most of the time. 😉 Although I think I can always do better I wonder if this is really true. Each round of golf is a unique experience because I have never hit the same 75 strokes from the same position ever! After thousands for rounds, every round played out differently and needed to be navigated like it was my first round. This is the fun of golf and I hope that the feeling of unfinished business never changes.
Continue readingSwing Speed And Ball Direction In Golf
Most amateurs equate swing speed with ball distance. This thought process is correct (to a degree), however it is not the only affect swing speed has on your game. Swing speed can be defined as how fast the golf club is traveling when it strikes the ball. There are several ways to generate swing speed that amateurs can investigate, yet that is not the topic of today’s post. I can tell you that the process of increasing our swing speed can be challenging because of the change in mechanics we employ thinking that we are helping our game. When in fact, we are causing more challenges at impact, thus causing our ball to every which way. There is a simple explanation for our direction woes that was not that simple to figure out.
Continue readingSame Golf Swing With Different Clubs
The topic of using a different swing for different golf clubs often arises when chatting with my friends. Because each club is designed for a different purpose and distance, many feel that a different style of swing is warranted. It is an interesting concept, but not one that I do not subscribe too because I have a difficult enough time maintaining one swing. I will make a disclaimer about this topic: this discuss centers around a full swing and full swings only. Having established the parameters of our discussion, I think I understand where the confusion arises for most amateurs and it really has nothing to do with the actual swing mechanics. The challenge centers around their setup and expected results.
Continue readingFocused On The Wrong Thing In Golf
Have you ever thought that you are focusing on the wrong aspect of your golf game? I sure have over the years and to my demise. Yup, every player has on occasion travelled down the wrong path searching for the magic to lower our golf scores. I have found something that worked very well for me and has served my golfing needs for a long time. It deals less a particular stroke or technique, but a philosophy of lowering my golf scores in a consistent manner. I have mentioned it before, but I figure it is worth talking about because it will work for every player.
