Is this the year that Phil Mickelson finally closes the books on a career grand slam? Or am I getting ahead of myself? After winning the PGA Championship last month, Mickelson’s stats have him with 45 PGA tournament wins that include five Majors. Is this weekend going to be another page into the history books or is he going to fade quietly away never to accomplish one of his career goals. It is difficult to say with Mickelson because we never know which player is going to show up on any given day. Personally, I would like to see him with the US Open after six, second place finishes; it would be the crowing achievement of his illustrious golfing career.

Phil Mickelson Making History Is Inspiring
Phil Mickelson won his 6th Major yesterday, the 103 PGA Championship. Making history as the oldest Major winner, I wonder what is in store for him moving forward. Phil has proven he can still compete at the highest levels. Unfortunately, I missed all the action due to a sudden unexpected need to help a friend. It is all good because this was definitely more important. However, I cannot overstate the importance of Phil’s win and congratulate him on his historic win. It is a challenge to measure the number of mistakes I make in a round. This might seem like a crazy statement, yet how do we actually tally the number of actually mistakes are made in a round. Do we include poorly hit shots that turn out okay? Do we only focus on the poor results? Does chipping 6 feet from the pin from just off the green count? You can see that developing a checklist of possibilities for the quality golf shots is virtually impossible. Yet, I still learn from my perceived mistakes in hopes that it improves my golf game.
Continue readingStop Three Putting
If there is one thing I hat more that anything is three putting. I am confident that all of you feel the same way. I work on my short game all the time in order to reduce my scores. I believe that the most strokes saved during any round is on the green, so it only makes sense to eliminate extra strokes in needless three putts. I have talked about three putting and lag putting in previous posts, however I found I can never stop looking to ways to improve this area of my game. Well, you are in luck because I found another drill that just might help us eliminate three putting from our game forever.
