So You Think You Are A Great Putter!

Putting is the great equalizer. I know this because many of my scores were the result of great or poor putting. If you talk to any of your golfing friends, they will agree that the flat stick can change the fortunes of any round. Without taking detailed stats, it is a challenge to really understand how good (or poor) of a putter we actually are. Personally, I think and know that I am a better than average putter for my handicap, yet my confidence can be shaken with a couple of poor first putts. Knowing all of this, I have to remind myself to keep things in perspective before flying off the handle.

The Masters Day One

After watching seven hours of golf (I think that is a record for me) I found the first day at The Masters to be very typical. There were some highs, some lows, and some grinding. As always, Augusta National Golf Course was in fantastic shape and offered very little chances in the way of lucky breaks. How Many Golf Balls Do You Use During Putting Practice?

How many golf balls do you take to the putting green when it is time to practice? Many times we just grab some balls, drop them on the green, and start putting away. How do I know this, well I used google so it has to be completely true……right> 🙂 All joking aside, there are so many putting tips out there that I could not even describe the depth and berth of areas they cover. I have tried a bunch (number actually unknown) and some have helped. Others did not fit my putting game and had to be discarded. But, through all of my efforts to improve my short game I did find one putting tip that was a sure fire winner. It is something I always do and feel it is the primary reason for my success on the green.

The Importance of A Two Putt

If you were offered a two putt on every green before your round, would you take it? Would a two putt on every green help or hurt your score. I my case, it would hurt my score because I generally have more one putts than three putts. I will mention that most of my holes (usually around 12) result in a two putt. The days I am playing well, that number decreases to 9 or 10. However, I do believe that most players overlook the importance of a two putt in their endeavour to shoot lower golf scores.
