Adjusting to a Different Ball

As I mentioned yesterday, I have switched to my fall ball: the Wilson 50. It is a ‘no-brainer’ to make the move, but there is always a period of adjustment. It is not anything critical, but it something I must be aware of during the transition. Primarily, the greatest adjustment occurs in my short game. It takes about 15 minutes on the practice area to make the change and it is worth every second that I practice. Continue reading

Challenges With Alignment

It is amazing that any golfer can go from playing well to playing poorly with just one swing. In my case, this downward spiral happens when chunking an easy chip. I am not sure exactly why this happens, but it definitely has something to do with my alignment. Additionally, it happens when I am trying to be ‘too cute’ instead of being aggressive. Match Play – Gross Event Results

After some work, I was able to squeeze in my second Match Play of the week. Fortunately, this was the gross event and I did not have to give 11 strokes to my playing partner. Arriving early at the course, I practiced my chipping and putting. I have not played in a while, so I thought it was time to practice. I had time to chip with my 52º wedge and putt a few balls. When my opponent, Don Secord, arrived, he did the same. After about 5 minutes, we both decided that it was time to head to the first tee. Continue reading
