If you follow golf at all, you cannot miss the growing hype about the 10 million dollar challenge between Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson. It will be a head to head match play, the players will have mics and the crowds will boisterous. I guess this match is more for the media than for the players. Regardless of the results, it will change nothing to their place in golf history.
I wondered if this match was really gaining any traction within the golfing world or just with the media. Well, it seems that half of the golfing world is interested and the other half has something better to do.
Personally, I am neutral about this match. Both of these golfing legends have already proven themselves countless times, so playing head to head at this point is their career is really pointless. I guess it is for the fun of the game.
I am not drawn into the hype either. I supposed there is a potential for this match to be a ‘clash of the titans’ and I hope for the fans it is; however, there is too much other talent I would rather see play head to head than Mickelson and Woods. Perhaps Dustin Johnson and Rory McIlroy or Justin Rose and Jordan Spieth…..the options are endless and the young guns, in my opinion, would put on a better show.
Setting the date for US Thanksgiving weekend, 23 or 24 November, this event is quickly moving forward. I am not sure the football fans will be happy to have Woods and Mickelson cut in on the TV coverage, but that is life I guess. Personally, I will have something else to do that day.
As you can see, I am not a fan of the match. Actually, I am neutral. I have no strong feelings about it in either direction. However, I do know that I will not be watching the match. How about you? Are you excited for the Mickelson vs Woods battle? Will you be watching?
I am a grateful golfer! See you on the links!
Jim,
I like the idea of having guys like Rose, DJ, and Rory doing this one day…to be honest I would rather those guys than Tiger and Phil. However, I will still watch for the sake of it.

I agree about the younger players challenging each other head to head. I likely will not watch Phil and Tiger, just does not hold my interest.

Jim,
I’m not too excited for the match, but yes I will watch, unless there’s a better football game on at the time. You really want to kick this thing into high gear? Have Phil and Tiger put up $5M of their own money instead of someone else’s pot. Think of the possibilities! Each comes to the course with five mill in a briefcase and the loser hands it over on national TV at the conclusion. LOL! Phil might be up for it but not Tiger.
Thanks,
Brian

This is the first I’d heard of it. And no, I can’t say that I care even a little. It’s nothing more than a stunt.
