I have purposely stayed away from commenting about the division in world of golf. With the multitude of opportunities to play professional golf at various levels, having a battle at the core of golf is disheartening and distracting. As an amateur golfer and one who has no opportunity to watch a professional golf tournament live, the daggers thrown back and forth are starting to sour my perception of upper echelons professional golf. It is coming to the point where the white noise of conflict is turning me away from caring about the men’s side of professional golf.
The core argument, in my opinion, has nothing to do about golf. It is about control of the revenue generate by professional golfers. Having a virtual monopoly, the PGA Tour is not going to quietly stand by and watch the LIV poach some of its star players. You will notice I did not say top players because many of the players have a star brand and are at the end of their pre-senior professional career. At this point the LIV is conducting an hostile take over of some of the start players of professional golf.
Of the articles I read, all players have reasonable justification for making their financial and personal decisions. They are professional golfers and want to make the most of their skills while they still can. I cannot point fingers at either side, nor can I definitively support both sides. I realize that this is a bit of fence sitting, but as I said before, it has nothing to do with golf; it is purely business.
Bottom line, the open fighting at top levels of professional golf is souring my desire to watch men’s golf. Except for the Majors and the Ryder Cup, I can see me gravitating more to watch LPGA events. This is the last article I will write on this issue; it is purely white noise and does not affect my game one bit.
I am grateful golfer! See you on the links!
Jim, I’m not a fan of LIV. The key to watch is the world golf rankings. If LIV events don’t contribute to WGR, LIV will fail because the majors use WGR as entry criteria. We’ll have to wait a bit to see how that plays out. In the meantime, enjoy the ladies action.

It has nothing to do with golf. It does have something to do with Saudi blood money and when we accept their money we accept how they treat their citizens. I won’t watch their tournaments, and I’ve already unsubscribed to a few youtube channels that have decided that it’s in their business interest to join in. I don’t spend money at many businesses because of their monetary support for things most of us abhor. Chik-fil-a, Hobby Lobby, Home Depot to name a few are companies that will never again see a dime of my money.
I’m not standing for the PGA, they have issues of their own. I boycotted them when they used trump golf courses for instance and wrote multiple letters. I want to be able to say when I die that I did my part and did my best not to provide help to those who hurt or discriminated against others.

This is a very contentious topic for sure. There are many sides and I have avoided even discussing it until now. I just want to play golf. The happenings at the higher level of golf are just white noise.
