The Saddest Golf Day Of The Year

The day has finally arrived when I washed and stored my golf clubs for good. I know that I stopped playing at the beginning of October, but I kept my clubs handy just in case. Well, the temperatures are dropping, the courses in our area are closing and I have soooo much yardwork to do that hitting the links did not workout. Regardless, this is still the saddest golf day of the year. I only have 200 days until I can dig my clubs out of the closet and hit the links for the first time in 2023.

There really is not much else to say about my sad day. It happens every year around this time, but there is one thing I will remain…..grateful. I had a great year, learned a great deal, and found a new area of golf interest; but, more on that over the long winter’s nap.

Have an awesome day and if you are still golfing, remember to be grateful!

I am a grateful golfer! See you on the links!

  1. I am sad to say I am done for the year as well. Weather in south west Ontario has been nice but as you I have lots of yard work to do. I have truly enjoyed your articles and am sad that I did not get to see you when I was in The Bay this past summer. Have a great winter Jim and all the best to you and your family in the new year.

  2. Sorry to hear that you have hung them up for the year, it is always a sad day. I have not been able to play for the last couple days because of today being moving day. For the first time in twelve years, I will have to drive to my home course. The house that I rent requires significant renovations and It will take six months. In May I will have a freshly renovated apartment to continue my golf course living.

The weather is fantastic and I look forward to playing tomorrow and we should be good for at least a couple more weeks. On Saturday, we are having the Nip Tuck tournament, a two man scramble with shall we say interesting (some day ridiculous) pin placements. We have four Hickory teams in it this year which will be a blast.

Jim, it is too bad that you are not closer. We can usually find a place to play into December and occasionally throughout the winter.

    • Lorne,

Well, moving off the course for renovations….that is to bad. But, as you said, you will have a new place in May. I wish I was a bit closer, but who knows what trips I will be making next year. Good luck on Saturday in the Nip Tuck Tournament.

      Cheers Jim

  3. Well at times like this I always feel guilty. I want to commiserate with you having to pack away the clubs for the rest of the year, but Florida law says we have to rub it in and remind you that golf never ends here. It’s part of our tax code I think. lol
