No Big Surprise At Day 3 Of The US Open

Anyone who follows golf was not surprised by the scores shot yesterday at the 2023 US Open Championship. Most of the top players shot around par and were grinding on most shots. It only takes a mistake or two and their scores were dramatically affected. Conversely, shots like Scottie Scheffler made on the 17th hole that resulted in an eagle can push their score in a positive direction. Regardless, LACC is playing as expected and the final round today will see players lamenting over every shot. If you want to see professional golfers put all their skills to the test, then today is the day to watch golf.

Today’s article will be short. In case you missed the shot of the day:

The third round went as expected. There were surprisingly a large number of birdies, however the number of bogeys outnumbered the red numbers. I expect today to be the same. If one of the leaders does not score well on the front, they will have not chance to catch up on the back.

The key to yesterday’s successes was being in play off the tee. Hitting the fairway was critical to a reasonable score. I watched many balls roll out in to the crazy rough that forced players to punch out and hope they could get up and down to save par; many did not. With LACC drying out more for the final round, crazy roll outs will be in every player’s future. The player to successfully navigate their all off the tee will go on to win.

As the 2023 US Open plays out today, I am cheering for Rickie Fowler to win. What a comeback story this would be for him and golf as a hole. I will not be disappointed if Rory wins, but to be fair, any of the top four players has a chance today.

I am a grateful golfer! See you on the links!
