Playing golf at anytime is generally a good time. Yesterday, I played a round at the Laurentide Golf Course with my very good friend Blair. We have been playing golf together for a long time, however this year we only played about five times together. Regardless, our round yesterday was one of the best of the season. We played fairly well ( I shot 77 and Blair shot 83) considering the challenges the greens at Laurentide presented. Every hole was an adventure that I would gladly do again at anytime.

As Blair prepared to hit this down hill skater of a putt, he tried to navigate all the subtle breaks at the hole. Every hole present a different challenge that resulted in our approach shots and chips finishing farther from the hole than expected. The greens were in fantastic condition, cut to perfection and had very few blemishes.
In our opinion, Laurentide Golf Course had the best greens of the year. They rolled perfectly, were consistent through all 18 holes, and were the reason Blair and I had so much fun. It is a rare thing that to find greens in such fantastic shape, but man oh man these were by far the best in the area.
Every once in a while we have the opportunity to play a fun course. During these moments there is something that catches our attention that really accentuates our round. During yesterdays round it was the greens. It is difficult to describe how good the greens were, but take my word for it, they were awesome.
Each green presented its own challenges. Where they were undulating, elevated, angled a particular way, or shaped like a bowl. Blair and I hit many greens in regulation, however many times we were on the wrong side of the hole and rolled off the green presenting a chip set up our par. The funny aspect of our short game was that we hit many great shots or so we thought. It would take many rounds to really get to know all the subtleness of each hole. If I lived closer, I would love to play Laurentide regularly.

To be fair to all readers, the tee boxes need a fair bit of work. However, we did talk to the Superintendent and like all courses they have to choose where to devote their time. This year, greens were the focus and did it ever pay off. I would easily head back to Laurentide to play another round, I just need to find the time.
To match the fantastic greens, the weather was perfect and the layout loads of fun. At 6000 yards, this par 70 golf course is a must play course. And I recommend playing it if you get the chance.
I am a grateful golfer! See you on the links!
Got a couple pictures from two of the holes I played this weekend and from hole 12 tonight when I practiced until sundown. And there’s a video of me hitting over that fence. Not my best attempt but it did make the green. Surprisingly, I’m better at that shot even from the 2 paces I was off the fence with a sand wedge than the lob wedge I used because I have to swing harder to send the ball far enough with the lob I think. It’s not making a ton of sense to me yet. I can only assume I need a high speed camera to see the exact difference in what goes on between the sand and lob wedge on that shot. I’ve basically got the face open about the same with each which should make the sand wedge harder to send the right direction, but it’s the lob wedge I have that trouble with way more often.
This one is a case in point. It flew wide right and barely stayed on the green. No up and down this time. But I two putted in though the video is only of the fence shot. Very short. 21 seconds.

That was very cool. Tough shot over the fence for sure. The pictures of the golf course are beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

Nice round both of you. I’m sure that was fun. Playing well always is. lol
Wish me luck. The course we play tomorrow is 6233 yards par 72. Lots of thick tropical growth lining one side of the fairways and lakes on the other side.
Should be a tough nut 1st time out I’m guessing. But I have one advantage I never had before. My GPS watch and sensor system added a new feature to the app and now I can get a satellite view of the course complete with my position on it and yardages to hazards on my phone. It takes some of the guesswork away.
Now if only they can provide current 3D maps of the greens. lol
