Putting Tip On Grip

Any golfer who is serious about their game has taken the time to focus on their putting. I realize that I have talked about this stroke a fair bit lately, but is so important to lower golf scores. Additionally, all my practice at this moment is indoors, so putting is the easiest part of my game to improve. The reams of data available is overwhelming, however I found one simple, basic, repeatable tip that will help all golfers. The video is short and focuses on fundamentals, what a great way to start the new year!

What I like best about this video is the emphasis on fundamentals and our putting grip in relation to our fore arm. The putter shaft angle and fore arm angle needs to be as close to zero as we can make it. I work on this club position all the time and it does work for my game.

The end result of following this simple tip is the elimination of wrist movement during our putting stroke. This is absolutely key to creating a consistent, repeatable and controllable putting stroke.

Putting is unique to each player. Yet, there are fundamentals that every player needs to adopt to be successful. As stated in the video, professional golfers work on the fundamentals all the time. I would suggest that if this is their approach to golf, it should be ours.

I am a grateful golfer! See you on the links!

  1. All I can say about putting that might help is if you aren’t practicing your putting like it’s the most important part of your game (and maybe life lol) then you aren’t giving it enough importance.

You’ll know your getting close to practicing enough when you get to the course and realize you didn’t put your putter back in the bag after practicing on the carpet the night before. lol That’s my personal least favorite clue at least.
