Do you want to shoot lower golf scores? Of course you do; we all do! Shooting lower golf scores is always possible for any player who is willing to effectively analyze their game and is open to change. I am fortunate because I broke 80 a long time ago. I have consistently shot in the 70s with the odd jaunt into the 60s. To achieve these milestones, I adopted three simple strategies that complimented my game and propelled my scores lower than I originally thought. Looking back, I adopted a way to lower my scores the easy way!

To be fair, it does take a bit of work on our part to reach these goals, but by following the three tips by Coach Lockey we will build the foundation to shoot lower scores.

Coach Lockey’s three simple tips of aiming to reduce misses on approach shots, hitting the ball deeper on the green and have multiple choices for a specific yardage are topics I have mentioned before at The Grateful Golfer. Each individual topic has a wide range of subtopics that require some attention. By focusing on these three things I was able to break 80. By refining them, I was able to lower my score even lower.

For my game, the one tip that is most important his hitting the ball farther on approach shots. I have several range determining devices and this knowledge is very important. The key is using the information to my advantage. I wrote an article on this in the past (How To Read a GPS Distance Measuring Device) and my conclusion was that I was under clubbing most approach shots. Well, I fixed that and it has improved my approach percentage with an easier swing.

Golf is a process. The three tips by Coach Lockey are nothing new, but a great reminder that lowering our golf scores is not always rooted in our swing. Course management and the willingness to make changes to our mental game are just important. The choice is ultimately yours, however the three simple changes mentioned above can should have a direct and positive impact on your golf score.
