The Grateful Golfer was created in May of 2012. Wow almost 13 years of writing has given me time to think about the amount of joy I have gleaned from sharing my thoughts on golf. Sometimes my musing are informative and others…..well, thanks for putting up with my diatribes. With over 1.2 million views ant 800k visitors, I must be doing something right. This year will be my best yet and I am grateful for all the support from you the readers. Unfortunately, finding something to write about that is golf relate is a challenge. Especially since my golf season has ended and I have transitioned to coaching high school basketball. Regardless, I sit down everyday and amble through the golf topics trying to find something to share. Well, today I could not find anything specific to write about except this:

When I first started writing about golf, I had a goal of mental healing from cancer. I chose to write about golf to take my mind off of the dark paths of fear in order to regain control of my thoughts. I felt that writing would help me focus on things related to a passion in order to steal back life. Well, after 15 years, I have achieved that goal. This is a hard fought goal and after achieving it I learned a few things along the way.
My initial plan of creating my own website by writing code failed quickly. I found that I was not able to learn this new skill fast enough, so I changed my plan and found WordPress. Learning this program has been fun and I have not looked back at my decision to veer left instead for right at the fork in my journey.
I created some infographics, which I enjoyed learning. I plan on revisiting that part of my journey very soon. That change was unintentional and so I need to head back to what worked as far as content goes.
I set writing milestones to achieve relating to attracting viewers and adjusted that plan because it was too restrictive. Trying to the achieve goal 1 million visitors is still looming on the horizon, but I adopted it will happen when it happens attitude in order to maintain my passion for writing. The last thing I wanted to do was dread putting my thoughts on paper.
Lastly, I re-introduced ads on my website. I know is can be a bit annoying for the reader, however I have a goal to raise money for local sports. I try and help the local schools purchase needed equipment and uniforms for the kids. It is not much, but it is something and it is a goal I have that gives back to the community. So, thanks for supporting my efforts to improve my 3 foot space.
Setting goals is a valuable process in my life. I usually come up with a plan to achieve my goals, but sometimes I need to modify my plan, but rarely the goal. It is something I think everyone should adopt because the only way we fail is when we quit.
Okay, back the original thought of trying something to write about for The Grateful Golfer. Today’s article is a perfect example of what happens. I start writing and then a thought jumps into my head. I try and follow that string of random ideas in order to come up with a cohesive story to share. Sometimes it works and sometimes it a rambling blah blah of words. Regardless, I create content that hopefully amuses you the reader and takes me one step closer to 1 million visitors!
I am a grateful golfer! See you on the links!
Long may your ramblings continue! Always enjoy reading your blog.

This blog is so impressive. You must be one of the most prolific golf writers in Canada (maybe the most prolific). Keep up the great work!
