Hitting Your Golf Ball Correctly?

After 50 years of playing golf, I have come to the conclusion that I do not know as much about golf as I think. I have read, watched videos, practice, practiced some more, competed in tournaments, shot under par, shot three holes in one, and made a few eagles through my journey. And yet, the amount of information about ball striking that I do not know seems to never end. Each time I think I have a solution to a challenge, another crops up and challenges me mentally (and sometimes physically) to change my thinking to start down another swing path. Needless to say, all of this change can be frustrating, however I have to say that it is a fundamental reason why I love the game of golf!

One of the draws to golf that developed over the years is knowledge that there is always something to learn. No one player can accumulate everything there is to know about golf. There are a select few that are considered experts in teaching, but may not be able to play well enough to considered the GOAT. There are players who can play, but not teach. Each golfer has their own journey and the results for each will be completely different even if several follow the same path. The number of stressors for any situation are impossible to calculate, but some definitely try.

So where does this leave the average golfer? That is a question I ask myself often as I try to solve the rubick’s cube of my golf swing. Patience and stick-to-itiveness are the fundamental traits needed by all golfers in order to lower their scores. We all know that behind every corner in golf is a bucket of frustration mixed with a cup of elation as our game progresses. With such odds, many often wonder why they even play the game that is designed to challenge our every swing.

It is simple in my mind as to why I play golf. It is a passion garnered from my desire to improve every time I tee it up. What I love is the basic premise that I am competing against myself and it is up to me to play better or to accept my short comings. Through the years, I embraced the latter by trying to grow my knowledge and physical skill of playing golf. There is no right or wrong answer as to why each individual plays golf because the dynamics of playing are different for everyone.

As we circle back to the title, I am confident there is a most efficient and effective, scientific method to striking a golf ball. Have I found it for my game? Not yet, I think I am doing better than average, but there is no way I have solved this conundrum. So, I will start my golf season by trying to find a few nuggets of knowledge I can turn into something physical. It is the same general journey each year, but fortunately I start from a different place, thus making golf the greatest individual sport to play.

I am a grateful golfer! See you on the links!
